About Our Spray Tans

What makes Beauty Worx spray tans different?

We offer a range of tanning solutions to suit every occasion and skin tone β€” from a subtle, natural glow right through to a deep, rich colour. Whether you are a bride wanting a flawless finish on your wedding day, a bridesmaid looking to match the bridal party, heading off to a tropical destination, or simply want a beautiful brown glow for everyday confidence β€” we have a colour for you.

Do you offer a bridal spray tan?

Yes β€” we offer a specialist bridal tan tailored specifically for brides and bridal parties. We work with you to find the perfect shade that complements your dress, skin tone, and the overall look you are going for. We recommend a trial tan 2–4 weeks before your wedding so you can see exactly how the colour develops on your skin before the big day. Bridesmaids are welcome to book together for a consistent, coordinated result.

What is a spray tan?

A spray tan is a professional tanning treatment where a fine mist of tanning solution is applied to the skin. The active ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone), reacts with the outer layer of your skin to produce a natural-looking tan β€” without any UV exposure or sun damage.

How long does a spray tan last?

A spray tan typically lasts 7–10 days depending on your skin type, preparation, and aftercare. Well-moisturised skin holds colour longer, while drier skin may fade faster.

Will my spray tan look natural or orange?

With the right solution and a skilled therapist, your tan should look natural and golden β€” never orange. At Beauty Worx, we select the solution depth to suit your skin tone and the look you want to achieve.

Is spray tanning safe?

Yes β€” spray tanning is a safe, UV-free alternative to sun tanning and sunbeds. DHA is approved for cosmetic use and does not penetrate beyond the outer layer of the skin.

Development Time β€” No Overnight Tans Here

How long do I leave my spray tan on before showering?

Our tans are designed to develop in just 1–3 hours β€” then you shower and you are done. That is it. No sleeping in your tan, no waking up with streaky sheets, no waiting around all day. Sleeping in a spray tan is old school and completely unnecessary with the quality solutions we use. Your therapist will advise the exact development time based on the solution and depth of colour chosen.

Why don’t you recommend sleeping in a spray tan?

Modern professional tanning solutions are formulated to fully develop within 1–3 hours. Leaving a tan on overnight does not improve the result β€” it increases the risk of uneven development, transfer onto bedding, and an unnatural finish. Our solutions are designed for a fast, clean development so you can get on with your day.

Preparation

How should I prepare for my spray tan?

Preparation is the most important step for a great result. Before your appointment:

  • Exfoliate thoroughly 24 hours before β€” pay attention to knees, elbows, ankles, and wrists
  • Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment
  • Do not apply moisturiser, oils, deodorant, or perfume on the day of your tan
  • Arrive with clean, dry skin and no makeup
  • Wear or bring loose, dark clothing β€” tight clothing can rub the tan before it sets

Can I get a spray tan if I have fake tan on already?

You will need to remove any existing fake tan before your appointment. Exfoliate well to ensure your skin is clean and even. Applying over old tan can result in patchy or uneven colour.

Should I get a spray tan before or after other beauty treatments?

Always get your spray tan after other treatments such as waxing, facials, and massages β€” not before. Schedule your spray tan as one of the last treatments before your event for the best result.

Aftercare

What should I do after my spray tan?

  • Avoid water, sweat, and moisture during the 1–3 hour development period
  • Wear loose, dark clothing after your appointment
  • Once development time is complete, shower with lukewarm water and a gentle, soap-free wash
  • Pat your skin dry β€” do not rub
  • Moisturise daily to extend the life of your tan
  • Avoid long baths, swimming pools, and saunas as these will fade your tan faster

Why does my tan look very dark straight after application?

Most solutions contain a cosmetic bronzer that gives an immediate colour guide during application. This washes off in your first shower, revealing your true developed tan underneath. Do not be alarmed β€” this is completely normal.

How do I make my spray tan last longer?

Moisturise every day after your first shower, avoid exfoliating, and limit prolonged exposure to water. A tan extender moisturiser can help maintain your colour between appointments.

Suitability

Is spray tanning suitable for all skin tones?

Yes β€” we tailor the solution to your natural skin tone. Whether you are very fair or already have a deeper complexion, we can achieve a beautiful, flattering result.

Can I get a spray tan if I am pregnant?

We recommend consulting with your Β midwife before booking a spray tan during pregnancy. We take care to minimise mist inhalation during application.

How far in advance should I book before an event?

We recommend booking 1–2 days before your event. This allows the tan to fully develop and settle into a natural colour. For weddings, we strongly recommend a trial tan 2–4 weeks prior.Β
