Mole scan is a dedicated skin cancer service. Seasons mole scan has incorporated SIAscopy the latest advanced technology to detect early melanoma the first of its type in New Zealand, although it is now in extensive use in UK and Australia.

SIAscopy is a clinically proven skin imaging technology that detects melanoma at an early treatable stage. The highly sophisticated high resolution camera views every 1/10 of a millimeter if your mole upto 2mm deep and makes an in-depth analysis of the lesion as such allowing comparison with your previous scans,thus easily detecting any charges at an early stage.

Also if there had not been a significant change at all levels of the mole, it is possible to avoid unnecessary biopsy or even surgery in many cases if it were only examined with naked eye.

Once the skin lesion is diagnosed as being a suspected cancer, the doctor decides either to perform a skin biopsy which involves a punch biopsy and a stitch to close the wound which could be performed at the same time.

Sometimes benign or pre-cancerous lesions like actinic kenatosis/solar kenatosis could be destroyed from progressing into a cancer by electrocautery (very small lesions ) on cryosurgery- liquid nitrogen application to other lesions. Lesions greater than 5mm may need excision surgery.

Moles or pigmented lesions suspected to be a melanoma have to be completely excised and sent for histopathological examination. Wound in the face or neck are made less obvious by using refined techniques of suturing and fine suture materials and taking high quality post-operative wound care by our trained professionals.

We start with a skin cancer risk assessment of each individual, a detailed skin cancer examination of the whole body, and taking through the patient to see their own lesions at a deeper level and explaining what is helping towards their diagnosis.

A regular self examination every month is emphasized for high risk individuals with a doctors examination needed every 6 months in some cases or else a year usually.
